Fundamentals of Academic Work – A Practical Guide
As part of the project, Ilia State University’s Centre for Academic Writing has produced Fundamentals of Academic Work – A Practical Guide for students. The textbook incorporates experience accrued through teaching of academic writing as well as classic and modern materials and both Georgian and international theoretical knowledge, accompanied by numerous and diverse exercises compiled by the authors themselves. The textbook consists of 10 chapters with each chapter covering one big topic, which in turn is divided into smaller themes. Each chapter offers versatile theoretical background, compiled as a result of processing Georgian and foreign sources together with multiple examples and exercises of different formats (e.g. to work individually, in pairs on in groups) for both classwork and homework or for going-over study material. Teacher and student are given systematic opportunity for practical application of read and understood materials. The textbook will help students to familiarize with sufficiently comprehensive readings on a specific topic in one space; read and be prepared for the next lecture; understand theoretical material and use it classroom activities offered by teacher.
